After selling shares, clients need to do EDIS which is a process of transferring the shares sold to the broker house. The e-DIS process involved calculation of WACC, calculation of Holding days and transfer of shares.
The step by step process is as below:
Step 1: Firstly, log in to mero share
Step 2: Then, go to my purchase source and calculate WACC of the scrip and holding period.
Step 3: Click My EDIS.
Step 4: Go to Transfer Shares and click corresponding View Details.
Step 5: Select all the scrips to transfer.
Step 6: Click Proceed.
Step 7: Finally, tick – I agree and confirm for the transfer.
Now you have successfully requested for the transfer of share.
Investors can sell shares using the EDIS (Electronic Delivery Instruction Slip) service if your Power of Attorney hasn’t been filed. It is one of the most important procedures to follow when selling any stock; in a few simple steps, it authenticates and legalises your transaction. Only the stocks that you currently own in your connected DEMAT account may be sold.
You will receive the payment of the stocks sold directly into your bank account linked with TMS on the following day of settlement. Currently, we follow T+2 settlement rule so if shares are sold on 1st of march, settlement will be on the 3rd of march and payment will be credited by 4th of march.
Note: Since T+2 settlement is only applicable for working days, any holidays will cause the settlement day to be postponed and the payment to be delayed accordingly.
Capital Gains Tax in Nepal is a tax levied when you sell something, such as property or stocks, for more than you paid for it. This extra money you make is known as “capital gain.” So, if you bought a stock for Rs 10,000 and then sold it for Rs 15,000, the extra Rs 5,000 is your capital gain.
Only trade transactions totalling more than Rs. 5 lakhs at once require a PAN number.
While a DEMAT account is set up to keep track of shares, much like a bank account retains deposits in customers’ bank accounts, a trading account (TMS) is established with a brokerage firm to engage in secondary market trades.
The DIS check or EDIS must be made available within a day following the sale of stocks.
A book closure is a period during which a company does not handle changes to the shareholder registry or requests to transfer shares. Companies frequently utilize the book closure date as the cut-off date for deciding which investors on record will receive dividend payments for that period.
Step 1: Firstly, log in to mero share
Step 2: Click My EDIS.
Step 3: Go to No Deliver Trades
Step 4: Type the scrip whose EDIS is not shown and tap search
Step 5: Check the Nodel-end-date and proceed to do EDIS on the next day of Nodel-end-date, after 6 pm.
